GBD were invited to assist in designing this unique and innovative domestic lift. Designed to make moving around the home effortless it can carry one or two people in a visually appealing compact car.
The innovative self-supporting structure and balanced lifting system for the car creates opportunities for a visually exciting and appealing lift. GBD explored concepts for different constructions to meet the requirements that included flat pack parts delivery from China, minimal skews for dealer stock and simple and quick installation time.
Considerations allowed for two people standing whilst easing concerns with small spaces. Design aimed to create a fully glazed elegant car for visual appeal. Futureproof features were included for product enhancements as the range developed. Concepts were presented as CAD models, renderings and full size models to our client. The structure is predominately aluminium extrusions with FEA used to check performance and compliance of the structural design to identified international standards. GBD also developed the design for Trio, a wheelchair version using the same Stiltz ‘family’ identity.
The Duo Home lift has been successfully launched with excellent global sales. The predominately clear glazed car means the lift can visually integrate easily into any room environment. The unique and intuitive design provides simple and safe travel between floors for people and their belongings.
