GBD assisted with improving the design, style, comfort and ease of use. Fabric slings are the accepted means of moving patients in care but are difficult to fit for bed to chair transfers and complicate simple tasks like bathing and toileting. Human needs are core to GBD’s design activities and the objective was to create a simple to use and safe system for lifting in a comfortable seated position whilst allowing easy access and adjustment of clothing providing a new standard in dignified hygiene care.

Significant design development was implemented by GBD aided by their understanding of the anthropometric requirements and evaluation of potential solutions. The gripping of the patient is directly proportional to their weight and the new shape body pads improve comfort for a wide range of users. The lower body weight is managed with individually adjustable leg supports. Careful materials selection created a hygienic product suitable for use in wet areas such as swimming pools and showers.
